Is seeing your dream car in person. And yes, it was a manual.

Kinja'd!!!

I would have had it in white, though.

Groovy. Saw one at a dealership a few years back; they look awe-inspiring in person.

It wasn’t a manual, but a little over a year ago the sales manager invited me to the Aston dealer he and let me check out a few of the cars. Like say, a gorgeous Vanquish. He also let me(15, almost 16, at the time)rev the crap out of a V12 Vantage S. Then I went across the street and saw my first P1. This was all after I had gone to an awesome cars and coffee and eaten at possibly the best burger joint in DFW.

Needless to say, that was a good day I won't forget:)

I still don’t know if I like these vents. I think they would look better if they were the same color as the car.

They look much better on a white car

Oh my... arguably the very best Aston ever built.

Pretty sure that is an option.

Kinja'd!!!

I’d rather have a clear-coated CF roof skin to coordinate with the vents and the air-dam, though... and some aftermarket forged wheels, perhaps in gold/bronze on a red or blue car.

This (Burnt Orange Metallic) V8 Aston’s louvers are a bit more acceptable but would still paint them the same color, for them to disappear.

For the V12, getting this hood and having a real sheet metal Maestro put some real metal louvers be my choice, even replacing those small ones in the process. Strange, Aston does not do it themselves. For, if incorporated into the hood die, it could cut those lovers in one pressing.

Or, just get the GT12 hood and still paint those black opennings in the car’s color...

Curious, what year is it, the color of the interior and what’s your asking price?

It’s not something we normally sell so it will be enroute to the auction next week.

Understand; where are you all located, if I may ask? Looking around, a BMW dealership, correct?

Trust it was a properly warmed up engine, in it’s correct operating temperature, before you

“rev(d) the crap out of it (the) V12 Vantage S.”

NEVER, EVER do this to an engine, if not properly warmed up. Preferably, NOT even when warmed up, as they are NOT designed to be reved to MAX RPM __WITHOUT A LOAD__.

It was warmed up, and I exaggerated it a little bit. I never got to the redline, I was smart about it

I believe the louvers are actual carbon fiber, not just a layer of CF over fiberglass, and for the Vantage V12 and V12S, the whole hood might actually be carbon fiber, and if not that, probably aluminum, or as Gaydon, Warwickshire (home of Aston Martin) residents would say, Al-U-MIN-ium.

The vents are functional, and positioned between the radiator and the front of the engine, and along the sides of the engine above the cylinder heads, to radiate heat upward, out of the engine bay, and draw engine bay air out into the slipstream over the top of the car, without forcing the air under the car’s floorpan, which would decrease flow, and decrease downforce from the ‘ground effect’. There is so little airspace in that engine bay with that v12 engine, rather than the standard V8 (a street-spec Vantage without the four big louver panels is a V8 car, all V12 Vantages have the louvers) The additional heat load means that the air needs to be managed, and allow flow through the radiator, as well as the aluminum engine itself to radiantly shed excess heat.

YES, of course, the engine compartment air flow need for both the aero and the heat evacuation is well understood, especially on the 2012 GT3 pictured.

However, for such a handsome car for just the street use, surely a better solution for the V12 heat extraction could have been found, IMHO, since even the rest of this race car looks pretty well executed, save that hood, of course...

The Vantage, YES. The single-clutch Garziano auto-manual gear box, not so much...

Also, the 2013 VantageS had way too stiff (non-driver adjustable) shocks, only acceptable (even just) on the table-smooth, almost-perfect-everywhere German secondary roads and Autobahns. Albeit just a V8, 297 km/h at full song, driving it as fast as possible most of the time, emptying the $150+ tank worth of gas every hour and half or less... Much fun though!
